The Wash Bag Appeal

Women fleeing domestic abuse often leave with nothing. Take part in the wash bag appeal. Fill a bag with toiletries and help restore their dignity and confidence.

Choosing to leave an abusive relationship is a courageous decision for any woman. Abusers often exert control over a woman’s finances and violence can escalate if they get wind of a woman’s decision to leave. Consequently, many women have to leave quickly with little in the way of cash or personal belongings.

The simple gift of a toothbrush, toothpaste and other essentials for these women can make a world of difference. In the midst of stress and uncertainty, it’s a reminder that someone cares and hope is on the horizon.

This December we’re encouraging people across Luton and Bedfordshire to take part in The Wash Bag Appeal by filling a bag with essential toiletries and adding a bit sparkle. It’s a great way to support vulnerable women and can be done alongside your normal Christmas shopping. Every wash bag we receive will be gifted to women experiencing domestic abuse and other challenges.
