Football and domestic abuse

Football may be a beautiful game, but it sometimes inspires strong emotions, heavy drinking and drug taking. Sadly, this can create an environment in which existing abuse thrives.

Research by Lancaster University found that cases of domestic abuse increased by 38% when England lost a match and 26% when they won or drew. By entering this prize draw you will help us to turn things around when the beautiful game starts to turn ugly.

Last year around 14,000 people in Luton experienced domestic abuse, most were women. Stepping Stones exists to support these women and provide a safe and compassionate space where they can begin their journey of healing and renewal.

Through tailored one-to-one support, group therapy, trauma counselling, practical help and specialist childcare services, we empower women to make positive life choices and create a better future for themselves and their children. For just £5 you help this great work continue.
