Childcare services
At Stepping Stones, we provide Ofsted-registered childcare within a safe, nurturing, and inclusive Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting.
We care for children and young people aged 0–14 years and are open all year round, Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. We offer funded childcare places for eligible families, alongside affordable childcare at a rate of £7.50 per hour. We follow Luton Borough Council’s safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure that all children in our care are safeguarded at all times.
Our setting includes a dedicated outdoor garden and play area, providing children with opportunities to learn, explore, and develop through outdoor play and nature-based activities.
Why choose us?
We work closely with Local Authority teams, SEND consultants, social care professionals, health services, and other partner agencies to ensure children and families receive the support they need. Our qualified and experienced staff are committed to creating a welcoming environment where every child can thrive.
Stepping Stones is dedicated to supporting women, vulnerable families, and those experiencing challenging circumstances. We understand that many families need additional support, particularly during school holidays, and we work to provide childcare and family support throughout the year.
In addition to our childcare provision, we offer a range of services for parents and carers, including support groups, counselling, and one-to-one support. Our holistic approach helps women and families build confidence, improve wellbeing, access specialist services, and overcome barriers that may affect family life.

Our Childcare Team
Our staff are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for every child. All members of our Childcare team hold a level 3 qualification in childcare and our manger is currently undertaking a level 7 in early years.
We are experienced in supporting children and families affected by domestic abuse and understand the importance of compassion, security, and emotional wellbeing. We welcome all children with open arms and strive to provide the highest standard of care, ensuring every child thrives.
Our childcare facility is rated Good by Ofsted and we provide high-quality childcare during term time and throughout the school holidays. We also offer Stay and Play sessions and make full use of our indoor and outdoor learning environments to encourage child development through play, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
Our vision
Our vision is to become a fully trauma-informed setting, recognising that every child’s experiences shape their development and that compassionate, responsive care can make a lasting difference.
Recognising that children can be victims of domestic abuse in their own right, we are committed to building our expertise in trauma-informed practice to ensure we can provide appropriate support, including play therapy, for the children we support.
We are passionate about supporting vulnerable children and families by creating strong, trusting relationships and providing care that promotes emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive outcomes. Working in partnership with parents, carers, and a wide range of professionals, we aim to ensure that every child receives the support they need to feel safe, valued, and able to reach their full potential.
