Support with drug and alcohol abuse
We support women struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.
Women often turn to substances to cope with their current circumstances or deal with past trauma. We understand that you use drugs and alcohol differently to men and respond differently too. We also know the emotional toll that comes with substance misuse.
What is a healthy relationship with alcohol?
The government recommends that women drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week spread out over 3 or 4 days. If you’re pregnant, it is advisable not to drink at all, as alcohol can lead to long term harm to your baby.
Not sure if you’re drinking too much? Try the free drinking check tool from Drinkaware. It’s short and sweet and completely confidential.
Do you have a problem with drugs?
Some drugs, including those available on prescription, can be highly addictive. The DAST questionnaire can help identify potential substance related disorders. It only takes a few minutes to complete and the results are completely anonymous.
What impact does substance misuse have on children?
Parents who drink to excess, use illegal substances or misuse prescription drugs, can cause physical and emotional harm to their children. Read about some of the symptoms you might see.
